What Do We Do?
Farm, forest, nature and education.
Acorn Hollow is the seed of an idea rooted in the land and Wolds around us.
It’s the very essence of promoting curiosity, enthusiasm, wonder and connection with the outdoors and natural environment through outdoor learning using forest school methods.
Forest School
We hear the term Forest School a lot but what does it actually mean?
It is a way of teaching through the outside world and outdoor classroom to affect the internal world of the learner, inspiring emotional, social, spiritual, intellectual and physical development. Learning in a forest environment is recognised to lead to better emotional understanding, problem solving and resilience among many other benefits.
Here at Acorn Hollow we take the Forest School ethos and blend it very uniquely within a small farm setting. We aim to take Forest School as an environmental learning pathway and push this further in to understanding the uses of our land for resources, farming and food. Working alongside our livestock helps to make this link.
We work with children and adults alike to embrace our outdoor environment and provide a space to acquire simple skills and inspire connections with nature and animals.
