Learning on the Farm - Summer - Thursday 16th July 2026

from £7.50

Join us for a Summer Learning on the Farm afternoon, specially designed for home-educated children. Our theme for this session is Pancakes, Pancakes!

Come on a delicious journey to discover how pancakes are made, starting right here on the farm. We’ll explore the crops we grow that help create some of the key pancake ingredients, meet our hens, learn how we care for them, and collect fresh eggs together.

Then it’s time to gather around the campfire to mix and cook our own pancakes from scratch, served with generous helpings of local honey or homemade dandelion syrup.

This session offers a wonderful insight into life at Acorn Hollow, combining hands-on experiences with themed educational games designed to spark curiosity, encourage questions, and inspire learning conversations.

We absolutely love questions and welcome plenty of them! We’re always honest with our answers though… so only ask what you really want to know!

As always, you’ll also have access to all the usual Acorn Hollow favourites, including meeting our animal friends, den building, the mud kitchen, and craft activities.

Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Gates open at 1.30pm for free exploration and time to settle into Acorn Hollow before the session begins.
The Learning on the Farm session will run from 2pm until 4pm.

What to Wear

Acorn Hollow is located on a working farm, which means we work whatever the weather, there may be mud, there may be rain, we might have wonderful bright warm sunshine, and there will be animal poo underfoot in places.  Please make sure you wear appropriate clothing, clothes and shoes that are allowed to get muddy are essential.  If you have wellies and waterproofs please bring them with you.  The more layers you can wear the better, that way we can add or take off layers depending on the weather.  During warmer weather please ensure you still wear long trousers or leggings, it would be advisable to apply sun cream before the sessions also as we will be in the sun for much of the time.

Medical Information and Allergies

Please make sure you have informed me of any essential medical information or allergies.  We will be providing Hot Chocolate and snacks, we will have ‘Free From’ alternatives if we are told about dietary requirements.

Hand Washing/Safety

Safety instructions will be delivered at the start of the session.  We will encourage children to wash and sanitise their hands at various points during the session, please could you ensure you help your children to make sure their hands are washed clean and their boots are washed off before leaving the site. You are entereing a farm environment where there is the potential to come into contact with various zoonotic diseases, including E-coli and Toxoplasmosis, we insist that you take hand washing boot cleaning very seriously, making use of the onsite handwash station and sanitiser.
