Young Shoots Workshop: Bows & Arrows Adventure - 30th July 2025
For children aged 5 and above - This session is running from 9.00am until 12.30.
Step into the woods with our Young Shoots at Acorn Hollow for a hands-on forest school session full of creativity, adventure and woodland skills. In this exciting workshop, children will craft their very own bows and arrows using natural materials, learning basic whittling and knot-tying techniques along the way.
With guidance and support, they'll test their creations in a safe and supportive environment, building confidence, coordination and a real sense of achievement. Perfect for curious minds and growing explorers!

Young Shoots run either from 9.00am until 12.30 or 1.00pm until 3.30pm.
I am very much looking forward to welcoming you to Acorn Hollow for our Seedlings Holiday Club. These will run from 9.00am until 3.30pm for children aged 5 and above. The day will include a variety of seasonal outdoor activities, nature-based crafts and cooking.
Location
Acorn Hollow is located between Market Weighton and South Dalton, on a working farm. There is a hardstanding area for car parking and outside toilet facilities on site.

Lunch
Please send your child with a packed lunch, we will have small snacks available and sometimes we will cook our own snacks but this is in addition to a lunch provided from home. Please also supply a named water bottle which can be re-filled during the day as required.
What to Wear
Acorn Hollow is located on a working farm, that means we work whatever the weather, there may be mud, there may be rain, we might have wonderful bright warm sunshine, there will be animal poo underfoot in places. Please make sure you wear appropriate clothing, clothes and shoes that are allowed to get muddy are essential. If you have wellies and waterproofs please bring them with you. The more layers you can wear the better, that way we can add or take off layers depending on the weather. During warmer weather please ensure you still wear long trousers or leggings, it would be advisable to apply sun cream before the sessions also as we will be in the sun for much of the time.
Medical Information and Allergies
Please make sure you have informed me of any essential medical information or allergies. We will be providing Hot Chocolate and snacks, we will have ‘Free From’ alternatives if we are told about dietary requirements.
We recommend that pregnant women avoid attending during the lambing season (March-April) due to the slight risk of the transmission of Zootronic infection from our animals. These are generally transmitted through direct contact with lambing animals. Pregnant women are at an increased risk of complications from infection.
Hand Washing/Safety
Safety instructions will be delivered at the start of the session. We will encourage children to wash and sanitise their hands at various points during the session, please could you ensure you help your children to make sure their hands are clean before leaving the site.
